Learning the basics of beginning any business is a good way to start planning. Found on Trucker Path, "Start a Trucking Company With One Truck" (2017, December 14) gives you some of the basics, but also read the comments that will also give you more insight to what you should be considering.
Another article that outlines steps to successfully become an owner-operator is found on KEEP TRUCKIN, "5 steps to becoming a successful owner-operator" (2018, June 19). This article's five steps go into informative details to evaluate yourself, getting started, minimizing costs, selecting the right equipment and how to afford it, and "understanding the golden equation." Under number five (5) is a host of information that is so important to being a successful owner-operator.
A great way to master your own trucking business is to learn from others who have years of experience. The National Association of Small Trucking Companies (NASTC) will be hosting its 28th annual conference in Nashville, Tennessee. This November 1st -3rd, 2018, NASTC will be focusing on the most debated topics in the trucking industry with informative classes and agenda set.
An organization for owner-operators is the Owner-Operator Independent Driver's Association (OOIDA). With 43 years of history and camaraderie to help truckers in America.
There are many great trucking events to attend throughout the year where you can obtain helpful information and make great connections and friends. An event set for 2019 is the Mid-America Trucking Show that began in the 1970's and is set for March 28-30, 2019 in Louisville, Kentucky.
