Meet - "The Pete"

Who or What Is "The Pete"?

Part of what makes the trucking industry endearing to many of us is the lingo. Hearing the terms the different brand trucks come to be known along the highways can be entertaining to all. Found on Smart Trucking, "PETERBILT TRUCKS - THE ONLY GUIDE YOU'LL EVER NEED" BY CATMAC222* (2018, November 2018), tells about these "looking good" trucks. They are made to "do the job," and "do it right." Known for the class of the Class 8 trucks, Peterbilts are noticed.

As the author points out, "even used Peterbilts, 10-20 years old, still have that awesome silhouette, that Pete lovers long for." The sleepers make great long haul semis, but what about the daycabs? These "PeterCars" are also unique.

The "PeterCar" Daycab

As of 2011, Peterbilt made some changes in their daycabs to offer driver comfort as found on Commercial Carrier Journal (CCJ). Peterbilt extended some of their Class 8 model daycabs adding "10 inches to the cab's length, 2.5 inches of the seat travel behind the wheel, 92 percent more seat room to recline and 4.5 cubic feet of storage behind the driver's seat."
